TN to award contract for phase-II of Chennai ORR

To construct phase-II of Chennai Outer Ring Road, from Nemilichery to Minjur, the Tamil Nadu government has recently given its nod to a consortium of Ashoka Buildcon and GVR Infra Projects. Work on phase-I of the ORR, from Vandalur to Nemilichery, is nearing completion. On completion, the 61.65-km-long road will form a semicircle around the city and help decongest Chennai?s roads. It will act as a major link and connect four national highways ? NH 4, NH 5, NH 45 and NH 205.

Ashoka-GVR Infra team bags Chennai ORR project

The Chennai Outer Ring Road Phase II project, costing Rs 985.44 crore, has been bagged by a consortium of Ashoka Buildcon and GVR Infra Projects. The Tamil Nadu government had earmarked Rs 1,075 crore for the project, which will decongest Chennai roads. The 62-km ORR project links the peripheral areas of the city from Vandalur in the south, about 25 km from Chennai on NH 45, to Minjur to the north of Chennai.

Centre to allow 100 per cent stake sale in BOT projects

Infrastructure developer IVRCL is going slow on its proposal to monetise three more build, operate and transfer (BOT) projects in the light of expectations that the Union government will soon take a decision to allow 100 per cent stake sale in BOT projects. It is just a matter of procedure. The decision will come soon as everybody, including the NHAI (National Highways Authority of India), is in favour of it, IVRCL Chairman and Managing Director, E Sudhir Reddy, said.

Expressway between Agra-Lucknow to cut 2 hours time

A six-lane expressway between Lucknow and Agra planned by the Uttar Pradesh government will cut the present five-hour travel time to three hours. The State has estimated the planned 270-km road project at Rs 9,155 crore, excluding land cost.

Goa?Kundapur h'way to be upgraded at Rs 2,600 cr

By spending Rs 2,600 crore the Kundapur-Goa National Highway is going to be upgraded into four-lane road. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and IRB Infrasgtructure Developers have signed an agreement to convert the NH 17 from the present two-lane to four-lane highway. IRB has sought a grant of Rs 536.22 crore from NHAI to execute the project.

Nod to Rs 7,915 cr road projects in UP, Maha, Gujarat, Haryana

The Union government on March 18 approved Rs 7,915 crore road projects in Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Haryana under its flagship road building programme National Highways Development Project (NHDP). The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), in its meeting accorded approval to the four projects to be built under phases III, IV and V on Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer (DBFOT) basis.
